Hashed Research CEO Appointed Chief Policy Officer at Korea’s Presidential Office

South Korea’s newly elected President, Lee Jae-myung, has appointed Kim Yong-beom, the former CEO of Hashed Research, as the Chief Policy Officer at the Presidential Office. This ministerial-level position is pivotal in shaping national policy directions.

Kim Yong-beom brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Vice Minister of Economy and Finance under the Moon Jae-in administration. His tenure at Hashed Research, a leading blockchain think tank, has further solidified his expertise in both traditional finance and emerging digital technologies.

The Lee administration’s decision to appoint Kim signals a progressive stance towards cryptocurrency and blockchain integration within the national economy. One of the administration’s key initiatives includes the development of a Won-based stablecoin aimed at preventing capital outflow and enhancing financial sovereignty.

Simon Kim, CEO of Hashed, expressed mixed emotions regarding the appointment, acknowledging the loss for Hashed Research but recognizing the potential positive impact on the nation’s crypto policy landscape.
